The Jewels & The Sword
When the lodge resumed in 1859 a number of new Jewels were
purchased for the Office-bearers, the total number purchased is not known but the
following ones are still in use today - RWM, IPM, DM and WSW. These were
Hallmarked in Glasgow in 1858, whether they were specially made for the Lodge or
purchased from a Masonic Suppliers in unknown. It should be noted that at this
time the RWM did not wear a chain of office, but his Jewel was worn on a Collar
similar to the Wardens (See photographs on the Lodge walls). The present RWM's
chain is first seen in the photograph of RWM Bro. Andrew Gibb (1927) in the
200th Anniversary Booklet.

The Sword which hang above the Master's Head is Arabic and
was presented to the Lodge on the 19th September 1924. The inscription reads as
follows - Presented by His Excellency Shaikh Salim Al Bumarak Sultan of Koweit,
Persian Gulf To Bro. R.E.A. Hamilton C.I.E. Afterwards (Lord Belhaven & Stenton)
and by him to Lodge St Mary Coltness Wishaw No 31 to mark the occasion of
himself and the Master of Belhaven being connected with the Lodge 19th September
1924
