Lodge History

Our charter granted to us on the 12th of October 1737, makes the following statement regarding our antiquity, "the Lodge of Free Massons, kept at Coltness in the Shire of Lanark, it was evidently made clear to me and the brethren of the Grand Lodge by proper documents. That upwards of these thirty years past they have been Constitute and Erected a Free Massons Lodge by the name and assignation aforesaid as depending from the Masson Lodge of Maries Chappell in Edinburgh". Since that date the Lodge has been an integral part of the Wishaw Community. Having stopped paying our annual dues for some years we were struck off the role of GL at the Quarterly Communication on the 6th of August 1843, after almost 16 years the lodge was reinstated to its former position on the roll on 7th of February 1859. Having moved our meeting place around the town, we finally set down our roots in our present temple, which was consecration on 18th of June 1909. Now some 269 years old we look forward to see what the future will hold for this Ancient Lodge and the Craft we love.
