Brass Candlesticks
The Brass Candlesticks, were presented to the Lodge on the
27th December 1867 by Bro. William Forrest (RWM 1869-71). They were used until
the Temple was modernised and electric light installed, an examination of the
bases however, will show that they may have been used after that time as they
had been drilled for electric cable.
Bro. Forrest was a man of many talents after his 2 years in the Chair, he served
the Lodge for a number of years as Chaplain, he was also Provincial Grand Bible
Bearer. Outside Freemasonry he was in the service of the Belhaven Family for 45
years, and was Usher to the Lord High Commissioner of the General Assembly of
the Church of Scotland on 36 occasions. He is interred in Cam'nethan Old
Graveyard and his tombstone records that he died at the Manse, Wishaw, in August
1881 aged 80 years.
